Dennis Gordon Emery

Dennis Gordon Emery, 57, of Atwater, died Saturday, March 6, 2010 at Carlinville Area Hospital.
He was born May 27, 1952 in Litchfield, Illinois, the son of Scott E. and Lola (Sharp) Emery.

Dennis graduated from Carlinville High School in 1970. He married Barbara Trulock in Raymond, Illinois on July 28, 1973, of their union 3 sons were born, Scott, Gregory, and Matthew.
Dennis became a truck driver in 1974, later becoming an owner and operator of his own trucking company. During this time he farmed in the Atwater area and retired from the farm in 1999.
He enjoyed digging in the dirt with his shovel, antique tractors, and playing with his grandchildren. He was a member of the Carlinville Elks Lodge 1412.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara S. Emery; sons: Scott E. Emery (Pamela), Gregory E. Emery, and Matthew L. Emery (Susan); grandchildren: Jennifer, Sabrina, Gayle, and Zane Emery, all of Atwater. Brothers: Albert Emery, Randy Emery, and Russell Emery, of Atwater; sisters, Julie Hines (Keith) of Kemper, and Joleen Bearden (Brian) of Virden; along with several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral Information

Friends may call from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M., Tuesday, March 9 at Davis-Anderson Funeral Home in Carlinville, IL.
An Elk's Ritual will be recited at 3:45 before visitation begins.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, March 10, 2010 at Davis-Anderson Funeral Home.

Burial will be in Bethel Ridge Cemetery in Atwater.
